About the Text Field
The Text Field is where you enter the text that will be used in your animation.
When you first open Anitype, the text field is already filled with default content, and each built‑in preset comes with its own example text. You can edit or completely replace these defaults directly in the field.
The text reflects these formatting settings in real time:
- Font family.
- Font style (bold, italic).
- Text align (left, center, right).
The text field itself is flexible: you can resize its height using the handle in the bottom‑right corner.
The "Use my own text" checkbox
If you prefer to keep the preset text as a reference, enable Use my own text.
This clears the field so you can type or paste your own content, while still preserving the original preset text in the background. You can switch between the default and your custom text at any time simply by checking or unchecking the box.
This feature is especially useful when trying different Built‑in Presets with your own text:
Symbols
The Symbols dropdown is used to insert specialized characters that are often missing from standard keyboards:
- In the Text Field, place the cursor where you want to insert a symbol.
- Open the Symbols dropdown.
- Choose a category.
- Click one of the symbols to insert it at the cursor position.
If the symbol you need is not included in our built-in selection, you can try using the ones from your system's emoji & symbols app:
- On Windows: Windows key + ;
- On Mac: Control + Command + Space
- On Linux (GNOME): Super + . or Super + ;
You can also try symbols and emojis found on websites like coolsymbol.com for example.
Please note that some symbols might not work with certain fonts.
They will be displayed correctly in the Text Field, but not on the preview pages and in the downloaded MOV file where a replacement symbol will be used instead (such as )
Zoom the Text Field
